This London wedding was a little different from our usual bookings — and we absolutely loved it!

The couple had travelled all the way from the US for a wedding weekend in London, with their celebrations taking place at The Lanesborough in Belgravia.

We provided live music throughout the day, but instead of using the same ensemble throughout, we changed the instruments to suit each part of the celebration:

Harp solo for the guests’ arrival and ceremony, harp and violin for the drinks reception, and violin and cello for the wedding breakfast.

And, of course, Lilibet the cat was there too!

A Wedding at The Lanesborough

The Lanesborough is one of those London venues that feels incredibly grand without losing its sense of intimacy. 

The ceremony took place in the beautiful Belgravia Room, followed by drinks in the Great Hall and lobby, before dinner back in the Belgravia Room.

The Lanesborough is such an elegant setting for a London wedding. Grand interiors, beautiful details and that unmistakable London atmosphere made it a wonderful backdrop for a wedding weekend bringing together family and friends from the US and the UK.

Harp for the Ceremony

For the ceremony, we played solo harp, creating a soft and romantic atmosphere as guests arrived.

The couple chose a lovely mix of music, including Beauty and the Beast, Ave Maria, La Vie En Rose, Can’t Help Falling in Love and All of Me.

For the processional, they chose Time to Say Goodbye, followed by City of Stars and Married Life during the signing of the register.

And for the exit?

My Girl by The Temptations.

Such a fun choice to finish the ceremony!

Harp & Violin for the Drinks Reception

For drinks, we added violin to the harp, and the music took a completely different direction.

The couple had chosen an eclectic selection including Wonderwall by Oasis, Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey, Still D.R.E. by Dr. Dre and Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan. 

We love playing modern songs like these on classical instruments. You still recognise the music, but the harp and violin give it an entirely different character.

It felt elegant, but with plenty of personality.

Violin & Cello for the Wedding Breakfast

For dinner, we switched again — this time to violin and cello.

The repertoire included Mamma Mia, Valerie, Levitating, Murder on the Dancefloor and Bohemian Rhapsody.

It was a brilliant selection for a wedding breakfast, with plenty of songs for guests to recognise while still working beautifully as live instrumental arrangements.

Three Different Sounds Throughout the Day

What made this wedding particularly special was the way the music changed with each part of the day.

Solo harp for a romantic and elegant ceremony.

Harp and violin for relaxed drinks and a touch of character.

Violin and cello for a warm and lively wedding breakfast. 

Three different combinations, three different atmospheres — all at the same beautiful London wedding.

And the couple’s kind words afterwards made it even more special:
