In July, we made our way to beautiful Ashridge House for the most gorgeous summer wedding.

It was one of those weddings where everything just clicked. A beautiful champagne-coloured theme, stunning flowers, incredible architecture, and, of course, plenty of live music!

We were delighted to provide music for the guests’ arrival, ceremony and drinks reception, with our harp, violin, viola and cello ensemble creating the soundtrack to the couple’s day.

A Champagne-Coloured Summer Wedding

The couple had chosen the most stunning champagne floral arrangements, which looked incredible against the historic architecture of the house. Soft, warm tones, beautiful summer light and flowers everywhere made the whole setting feel incredibly romantic.

And obviously, with a champagne-coloured wedding theme, we had to dress to match!

And Ashridge House itself is pretty spectacular.

The house has a fascinating architectural history and was designed in the early 19th century by architect James Wyatt. There is something particularly special about playing live music in a venue with so much character and history.

It really is the kind of setting where live music belongs.

Harp, Violin, Viola & Cello quartet

Although we are a string quartet, our ensemble is a little different from the traditional violin, violin, viola and cello combination.

We have a harp instead of the second violin.

And it makes such a difference to the sound.

The harp adds that beautiful, delicate shimmer, while the violin, viola and cello bring all the warmth and depth you would expect from a string ensemble.

The result is something that feels elegant, romantic and just a little bit different.

Classical, Classics & Film Music

The couple chose a gorgeous mix of classical music, classics, film and Disney music for their wedding.

The film music in particular sounded gorgeous with the harp, giving the arrangements that lovely cinematic feel without losing the warmth of the live strings.

I love hearing modern music arranged for live instruments. You still recognise the song you love, but hearing it played live completely changes the atmosphere.

And when you’re walking down the aisle at Ashridge House, surrounded by those beautiful champagne flowers, it makes the moment feel even more special.

It’s those little personal choices that make wedding music so lovely.
